I was born in Dominica, Caribbean. I earned my doctorate from Harvard University and am a past recipient of a Harvard University Fellowship and the Ford Foundation Fellowships for Latin America and the Caribbean. I am currently an Associate Professor and was previously an Interim Dean (2015-2016) and Associate Dean (2008-2015) for the School of Leadership, Education & Communication at St. Thomas University. At STU, I designed and managed several innovative academic programs, including the EDD program. I also implemented and managed several fully online and blended educational programs at STU. I have been involved in the design, development, and accreditation of online education for over 25 years.

What do you want students to learn in these classes?
I want my students at all degree levels to learn how to develop proper research and writing skills to solve problems in their everyday lives. At the graduate levels, I want all my students to use research, policy development, leadership, and innovation skills to make a difference in the lives of others.
What advice would you give to those considering these programs?
Work diligently everyday when registered in their program of study. There is absolutely no days off until you graduate!
What qualities make someone particularly successful in education?
Strong formal and research writing skills, ability to listen actively, taking chances and taking charge, even when you are not in charge. And finally, the ability to accelerate change.
Why did you start teaching?
I stumbled into the profession!

Tell us something interesting about yourself that your students might not know about you.
I completed my bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in five-and-a-half years. In my spare time, I am a building contractor specializing in renovations, although I have not had any spare time lately.
