In this online program, you will gain theory to connect to practice, preparing you to design successful learning experiences in both academic and corporate environments. You will follow an innovative approach to understand the needs of the learner and the impact of evolving technologies on every type of education and training.
You will learn to apply theory, research, creativity, and problem-solving skills to a variety of technology applications in order to help reshape the way information is created, integrated, and delivered. You will also develop the skills to assess, create, and manage training materials, enabling you to support technology-based training in multiple instructional environments.
Coursework includes curriculum development and planning for diverse student populations, technology into curriculum to effectively support and enhance learning. You will develop project management skills as part of leading instructional systems and study how to apply psychological theories of learning and development to teaching and student learning, as well as emerging trends in instructional technology.

To complete the Master of Science in Instructional Design & Technology online program, students must complete the following 10 courses for a total of 30 credit hours.
Courses in this program are seven weeks long. Courses during the two summer terms, however, are six weeks long.
EDA 606: Curriculum and Instruction for Diverse Student Populations
Duration: 7 weeks | Credit Hours: 3
This course provides a study of curriculum development and planning with an emphasis on meeting the needs of special-need and limited-English students. Educational programs at all levels are reviewed in light of new federal and state accountability standards. The development of assessment skills related to curriculum evaluation is emphasized, and strategies for curriculum improvement are explored.
EDF 621: Psychological Foundations of Education

This intermediate course is designed to apply psychological theories and principles of learning and development to teaching and student learning in career areas related to education. Challenges of diversity and teacher effectiveness are emphasized.
EDU 503: Applied Research Methods

This is an introductory course that surveys the variety of research designs used in educational settings with an application of evaluation research. This course is intended to make the student an informed consumer of research.
EDU 530: Educational Measurement
Duration: 7 weeks | Credit Hours: 3
This course introduces teachers and educational leaders to elements of assessment that are essential to good teaching. It provides students with an understanding of the role of assessment in the instructional process. Students will learn how to construct effective test questions that are aligned with learning objectives. They will also study how to evaluate published tests, properly interpret the scores of standardized tests and make appropriate modifications for ESOL students.
EDA 616: Technology to Support Educational Leadership

This graduate course is designed for Education Administration students. It provides students with a knowledge base on issues and concerns regarding computer use in education with an emphasis on technology planning and evaluation in K-12 settings. The course exposes students to a variety of computer applications for administrative and instructional uses and provides the opportunity for hands-on activities.

This course provides students with an in-depth overview of the field of instructional technology. Topics include the history, critical issues, emerging trends, key concepts of the field, and basic technology operations and concepts.

This course focuses on pedagogical theories as they relate to instructional design, and on existing and emerging models of instructional design. Topics include major schools of thought on how people learn, instructional and learning theories, and instructional design models and principles.
EDT 620: Technology Integration

This course focuses on how to integrate technology into the curriculum to effectively support and enhance learning. It provides students with opportunities to apply the principles and methods of technology integration by designing and developing real life technology-based projects. Topics include technology integration frameworks and strategies and technology integration across the curriculum (language arts, math and science, foreign languages, social studies, music and art, physical and health education, and special education).
EDT 630: Multimedia Design and Development
Duration: 7 weeks | Credit Hours: 3
This course is designed to develop students' technical skills in multimedia design and development for instructional purposes. Topics include visual design principles, desktop publishing, digital graphics, and digital audio and video.
EDT 650: Practicum in Instructional Technology
Duration: 7 weeks | Credit Hours: 3
This course provides supervised practice in applying students’ knowledge, skills, and attitudes of instructional technology through placement in an appropriate work setting. It is intended to be a self-initiated and self-directed project which culminates students’ interest and learning in the area of instructional technology.
